Cannabis Staffing and Recruitment

Looking to hire for your cannabis business?

A light assembly worker on his first day at his new job recruited by the staffing agency TalentWorld.

Regulated industries require rigorous background checks and training.

Luckily, TalentWorld has been a part of the cannabis industry since 2016. We were one of the first staffing agencies to enter the industry in Southern Ontario when cannabis first became legal. As a frontrunner in this budding industry, we know what we’re looking for when we are searching for the perfect fit.

From recruitment process outsourcing for your retail & corporate teams to managing the entire workforce in your growing facilities, TalentWorld can help you focus on what’s most important – growth.

What makes us stand out?

We never shy away from new opportunities.

Client: Licensed Cannabis Producer

Role(s): Warehouse General Labourers

We first partnered with this client in 2016, just when cannabis was legalized. As their sole staffing provider, we had the task of filling their almost empty warehouse as quickly as we could. The challenge was that no one knew what the perfect fit looked like at the time.

We took the time to really get to know the industry and learn as much as we could. We looked for people who had similar experiences working in industries such as makeup and food packaging, where precision is a must. We got so good, that 40% of people we recruited were hired permanently. And now, as a longstanding partner, we still help them fill high turnover labour roles. The relationships we’ve built throughout the years speak for themselves.

We create new solutions for tough problems.

Client: End Product Cannabis Company

Role(s): Light Assembly Labourers

When we started working with this client in October 2020, the market for cannabis was already highly saturated. From previous experience in the industry, we knew we needed people that were quick with their hands, had great math skills for precise measurements, and a positive view on cannabis.

As the Managed Service Provider, we manage a workforce of 500 temp staff at any given time. There hasn’t been a role we couldn’t fill with our extensive direct sourcing and referral methods. And to ensure we’re uncovering the best fit; we created a screening exercise to test candidate’s measurement skills.

No efforts or resources are spared in the search.

Client: Government-run Cannabis Distribution

Role(s): Management, front desk, and various other in-store roles.

With cannabis stores popping up across the province of Quebec, TalentWorld had to gear up and find candidates fast. The problem? Interest. In a market that used to be saturated, there was now a demand for labour. We needed to incentivise a potential workforce and we needed to do it quickly.

With the help of a specially curated TalentWorld task force, in less than a year, we were able to fully staff 30 new stores amounting to more than 2,000 people overall. By the end of the project, the General Director of the company personally congratulated our team for their hard efforts!
