TalentWorld is recruiting a Senior Manager Corporate Accounting (Financial Accounting & Reporting) in Calgary, Alberta for one of our clients.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the go-to expert for technical accounting on complex transactions, including M&A, derivatives, and joint ventures.
- Lead hedge accounting processes, including valuation, effectiveness testing, and financial reporting.
- Assess and document the accounting implications of strategic business deals and new initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 815, ASC 810, ASC 470, and implement new accounting standards.
- Support quarterly and annual filings, including financial statements, MD&A, and AIF.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Tax) to provide accounting guidance.
- Drive process improvements to enhance reporting efficiencies and financial controls.
- Lead special projects, including M&A integrations, system implementations, and policy updates.
- CPA designation with 12+ years of experience (7+ years in technical accounting).
- Big 4 or public company background with deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 815 (Derivatives), ASC 810 (Consolidations), ASC 470 (Debt), ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition).
- Experience with SEC reporting (10-K, 10-Q, MD&A).
- Proficiency in SAP/Oracle ERP systems and reporting tools like Workiva/OneStream.
- Advanced Excel modeling skills: experience with Power BI/Alteryx is a plus.
- Industry experience in energy, midstream, or commodity trading preferred.
- Strong executive presentation and leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor teams.
- Process improvement mindset and experience with system implementations.
- IFRS knowledge and additional certifications (CMA/CFA) are a plus.
