TalentWorld is recruiting a Mainframe Developer in Toronto, Ontario for one of our clients.
Responsibilities
- Analyze current system architecture and code structures.
- Define and implement technical database requirements.
- Create detailed technical specifications.
- Resolve technical issues and provide progress reports.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions.
- Design and implement system changes.
- Develop and modify code across different platforms.
- Ensure code meets quality standards through testing.
- Collaborate with team members on integration and code maintenance.
- Analyze and resolve reported defects.
- Manage version control and documentation using designated tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development and analysis.
- Certification or proficiency in IBM mainframe technologies (e.g., PL/I, COBOL).
- Expertise in IMS DB, DB2 for z/OS, and Endevor source control.
- Proficiency in mainframe debugging tools such as IBM Debug Tool and fault diagnostic tools.
- Experience with screen handling software like MFS and SCREENIO.
- Familiarity with Visual Studio for Windows client application development.
- Knowledge of SFTP scripting in a mainframe environment.
- Strong understanding of client/server architecture and XML processing.
- Experience working in the public sector or with regulated industries is a plus.
- Salary: $75.00HR - $85.00HR
- Benefits: 37.5 hours weekly, Contract, Full-Time, Hybrid
- Schedule: 8:00AM to 4:30PM, Monday to Friday
- Other: 9 months contract, possibility of extension
